Despite the fact that Microsoft Windows Server 2012 has been around for five years, it is not in danger of being discontinued anytime soon. Spiceworks last year reported that around 25% of servers still use Server 2012, and that Microsoft has not announced that it will end mainstream support for the OS in 2018. They also plan to continue extended support until 2023. It’s safe to assume that Server 2012 will be around for a while.
